Mack's Cash Grocery: A Taste of Home with Delicious American Comfort Food

This is my favorite burger place (besides Zestos they're tied imo lol)! I absolutely love their burgers and chili cheese burgers and onion rings! They have great prices too so it's easy to feed the family without spending a fortune. It's also a great piece of Columbia SC history. They do get busy at lunch so be prepared to wait a while if you go then or are in a hurry. But it's worth it for the fresh food delicious food and friendly faces.

A solid local spot! When you walk in and see a line at the counter that is a good sign and Mack’s did not disappoint. Friendly service, freshly made food and an atmosphere reminiscent of childhood.

Macks is a little hole in the wall establishment only locals know about. I've been going there for probably 20 years. They have the best chili cheeseburger in town. The employees work hard and serve you as quickly as possible. I live in Elgin so I don't get to go often but anytime I'm in Columbia I go to Macks. Caution if you go during lunchtime the line is out the back door, it's that good. It's not fancy and certainly not much to look at but but the food...

My boss introduced me to Mack's about a year ago and I'm so happy he did. We've been going there at least once a week ever since then. I had been looking for a great burger joint ever since the FA Zesto rebranded, and finally found it in Mack's. The staff are fast and don't play around, so don't expect to have much chitchat. All they ask is for you to be respectful and they'll do you right every time. The only downside I've found is that they aren't open for dinner so I've never been able to meet family here after work. I appreciate how hard they work. The line gets so long, it goes out the back door at lunchtime, but I promise it's worth the wait. Keep up the good work guys!

The building may not look beautiful, but the food sure is. Excellent and friendly service. You go there enough they will know you and your family and ask about them. Good is excellent. Heard many people call it hamburger heaven and I can’t disagree. Fantastic experience.

Mac’s Cash Grocery is a true hidden gem! A classic greasy spoon with that old-school charm and even better prices. The food is always fresh and flavorful, and the burgers? Hands down some of the best I’ve ever had — juicy, cooked just right, and full of flavor. You don’t find many spots like this anymore. Friendly service, no frills, just good food done right. If you’re looking for a throwback spot with great eats that won’t break the bank, Mac’s is it!

This place is great! Gives you that lunch counter vibe with fantastic food and service. Staff was very friendly and there were plenty of seats available when I went but the place is small and fills up quickly right around lunch time, obviously. I haven't said enough about the food! My wife and I both had a burger with onion rings as our sides. The burgers were juicy and tender and oh so fresh tasting, served on a sesame seed bun. Onion rings were cooked fresh and tasted like they were battered there, not just frozen onion rings. Fries are straight cut and fairly standard but are delicious all the same. We will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu! The hotdogs and hotdog chilli look amazing and other people I know that have been here all say they are the best in town. Definitely check this place out if you're in Columbia and want that old school lunch counter style meal and vibe.

This place is a total vibe. I felt like I walked into 1983 and it was AMAZING. Great burgers, great hot dog… Overall a great experience, definitely going back. Edit: I came back! Got the sausage dog this time, that’s gonna be my new go to. Really enjoy the vibe here. Lots of good friendly employees.
